Siamese are well known for having extremely short hair. however, this does not mean that they do not fall off. in fact, Siamese cats often shed just as much hair as other felines. his fur is constantly growing back, which means his old fur must be shed. That being said, her shedding is usually less noticeable due to how small her hair is. this has led to the misconception that they don’t throw anything.
These cats can shed a lot during certain seasons. during the fall and spring they will often shed more and may even need grooming. it is often recommended that owners brush their conjoined twins during these periods.
Are Siamese cats hypoallergenic?
There is a lot of confusion about the origin of cat allergies and what constitutes a hypoallergenic breed.
When someone is allergic to cats, they are allergic to specific proteins that the cat makes. these are found in cat dander, saliva, and urine. all cats produce these things, so all cats produce roughly the same amount of allergens. it actually has nothing to do with the fur itself.
The only role hair plays in cat allergies is to spread dander. often a cat’s fur can significantly spread its allergens. however, dander can travel quite far on its own, so it doesn’t need hair to spread.
in fact, there is no evidence of hypoallergenic animals, including cats. all cats produce the same amount of dander, saliva and urine, so it is impossible for one cat to produce fewer allergens than another.
in addition, Siamese produce just as much hair as other cats, so even if fur had something to do with cat allergens, this breed would not be considered hypoallergenic.
Despite this, they are often advertised as hypoallergenic. as we can see, there is no evidence that these claims are true. they are for marketing purposes only, especially considering that the term “hypoallergenic” can be used by literally anyone about anything. it’s not a regulated term or anything like that.
Do Siamese cats always shed?
yes, Siamese cats shed all the time. they often shed almost as much as any other breed of cat. however, they tend to shed more during certain periods. they may need to be fixed more during this time. but this doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t need to be fixed at other times either.
The Siamese does not follow any special shedding schedule compared to other cats. if you have a cat, you can expect the Siamese to shed in much the same way.
However, your hair may be so small that you don’t really notice the shedding. It won’t show as much on your clothes or furniture, simply because the coat is shorter than other breeds.

In addition to increasing brushing during these times, Siamese twins may need weekly brushing when they aren’t shedding much. this will reduce the amount of hair that ends up on your furniture and clothing.
Because their coats are so short, you may not need to groom them outside of their shedding periods to keep your clothes clean. many conjoined twins simply don’t produce long enough hair to be noticeable. It mainly depends on your particular feline and how sensitive you are to cat hair.
